As far as I can tell, today’s PC user falls into two camps; the savvy user and the non-savvy user. Whereas the savvy user might browse the internet with the Firefox browser and search using Google, the non-savvy would browse the net with the Internet Explorer browser and Live Search.

The savvy user would detect a virus in an email a mile off, whereas the non-savvy would naively open it. The savvy user is very familiar with all the latest buzzwords; the non-savvy is confused by the same technical terms. The savvy user stores their total music collection on their PC; the non-savvy uses a completely separate stereo player.

How many times have you called a friend or technical support to solve a computer problem? Have you had problems describing your problem? Have you just told a tech person – It does not work without giving them anything else? Everyday some of my customers say that an application does not work, or their monitor was not on, or their printer did not print. Many of these were operator trouble. The top ten things listed below will benefit you and the person supporting you.

I just listened to the very first podcast from PC Pro magazine – it was an interesting discussion based on the age old question, “Which are better, Macs or PCs?”

After a pragmatic and rational analysis, the Mac was shot down and the PC won the argument soundly. But can you really answer this sort of question with a discussion. To me its sort of reminiscent to when as kids we would argue over who would win in fight between the Incredible Hulk and Superman. It’s obviously a question of personal tastes and we’re all different. Sort of like having a serious debate whether the Rolling Stones were better than the Beatles?
